  1. 8 pieces bacon
  2. 3 tablespoons sugar
  3. 1 teaspoon salt
  4. 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
  5. 1⁄4 cup white vinegar
  6. 3⁄4 cup water
  7. 1 head cabbage, finely shredded
  1. Fry bacon until crisp; remove and drain on paper towels. Crumble and reserve for later.
  2. Add sugar, salt, and pepper to drippings.
  3. Stir until dissolved.
  4. Add vinegar and water, cooking briefly.
  5. Pour over cabbage.
  6. Top with crumbled bacon.
